Swim Removed,
Race continues.

updated: 23 October at 14.00

Following continued rainfall, particularly across the Tweed Valley, and our latest assessment of Mooball Creek, we have made the decision to remove the swim from the event program.

The good news: the event is proceeding.

Triathlon & Aquabike

Triathlon events will proceed under a modified format, with a short opening run replacing the swim before athletes enter transition and begin the bike leg.

Aquabike athletes will start at the transition gate and go directly into transition to collect their bike.

The start will be a pulsated start, with groups of five athletes released every five seconds. Your race time will begin when you cross the start line.

AusTriathlon has confirmed the event will retain the WQE status for the applicable categories.

We have updated the Athlete Guide and website with the revised start and course details.

Aquathlon

The Sprint Aquathlon will change to a run-only format.

AusTriathlon has confirmed the event will retain Australian Age Group Championship status, with national championship medals still awarded.

Bike Course

The bike course remains operational.

Depending on conditions, we may use shorter laps on to maintain the overall distance.   We are investigating adding a timing mat on the bike leg.

Any final course instructions will be confirmed at the race briefing at the start line.  The contingency course is below.

Run Course

The run course remains operational.

There is currently some standing water around the Sprint and Olympic turnaround area which is around 200m short of the Long Course turnaround.

Our course team is continuing to manage this, but prepare for a chance of running through some shallow pooling on the concrete footpath.

Sunday Events

With Mooball Creek unsuitable for swimming, the Sunday Community Swim will also not proceed.

Additionally, given the build up of mud on the Adventure Run Course, we have also made the decision that this event will not proceed.

Participants in those events will receive a separate communication (within the next seven days) with further information.
