The Pottsville Community Swim is a relaxed creek swim through clear coastal water, with 500m and 1000m options to suit different ages and abilities. With the tide helping you along and fish below for company, it is a simple, scenic challenge that feels more like a float with purpose.

Insurance
If you are not an AusTriathlon Annual (Standard or Premium) Member, you will need a One Day Membership.
One Day Memberships are automatically added to your entry at time of purchase if you do not enter a valid AusTriathlon number for a cost of $1.00.
One Day Membership (ODM) is a means by which participants who are not AusTriathlon Annual Members, contribute to the costs of running the sport of triathlon. It also ensures they are covered by an appropriate level of insurance while they are participating at events.
If you are participating more than one event this season, consider becoming an AusTriathlon Annual Member.

Registration is planned to open on Friday afternoon from 4.00 PM – 7.00 PM at Philip Street Park. If you can’t make it on Friday afternoon, you can sign on and rack on the day from 5.30 AM and until 10 minutes prior to first wave.
When you arrive at the venue you will need to sign in at the registration area. Line up based on your age group, you will then be asked for your surname and first name.

If you are a team, one team member can collect your team race kit for the whole team at registration.
Bike racking is available on Friday afternoon between 4.00pm – 7.00pm and Saturday morning from 5.30am until ten minutes before the first wave. There is overnight security provided.
Before you can enter transition you must have your bike sticker and helmet stickers affixed. You must also wear your helmet for Officials inspection.
Only race kit is permitted to stay in transition – for all other items, you must use the bag drop.
Bag storage will operate out of the registration tent.
Parking for athletes and supporters is available at St Ambrose School accessed via Overall Drive from 5.00am. Access is available all day and facilitated thanks to traffic control.
Parking is central to registration/transition and Pottsville Village.
Parking will NOT be available on Philip Street or Coronation Avenue for athletes or supporters.
Please do not park illegally as council will be onsite all day giving out fines.

Yes. The ODM is automatically added to your entry, if you do not have an AusTriathlon membership.
No, you are only required to purchase one ODM per team entry. If ALL team members are annual AusTri members, no ODM is required. If NOT ALL members are annual members then an ODM is required.
Opens is a non-drafting division for participants without any age restriction. Typically, this is the most competitive category and where elites and pros enter.
First Timers is a non-competitive wave. Don’t worry – you’ll get your timed results and we’ll recognise, welcome and congratulate you across the line, no matter the time it takes. Flippers are only permitted in the first timers category.
Athenas (75kg+) and Clydesdales (100kg+) are weight determined categories.

Yes. All distances have a minimum age for participation. For more information on age restrictions please visit the activity page you are interested in.
Age group racing is determined by your age as of 31 December 2026 and grouped in five year brackets (i.e. 30-34, 35-39, etc.).
All In teams consist of three people who each complete all three legs of a tri each; Relay teams involve each team member doing a single leg of the triathlon.
The Pottsville Beach Triathlon welcomes individuals and teams from 5 years and up.

Wave start times for each distance will be finalised the Tuesday prior to the event.
Yes, each triathlon participant receives a timing chip as part of their race pack which is to be worn on the left ankle. For Relay Teams there is one timing chip which must be passed to the next relay member. Results are released online by late afternoon of the event.
Bag drop will operate from the white Check In marquee in Philip Street Reserve.
It’s too early to tell at this stage. An indicative temp will be taken the day prior and the official water temperature will be checked the morning of the event.
Wet suits are only permitted at less than 24.6 degrees.
We do everything we can to ensure everybody has support and completes their race. We are still pending final approvals from Council, so we do not have the exact curfew times yet – but our planning takes into account all the previous athlete times on the course over recent races to ensure everyone finishes (particularly the cycle as it relates to road closures).
Absolutely – but all bikes must be in a safe working condition.
Yes, helmets are compulsory to participate in the event. When you enter transition to ‘rack’ your bike, you will need to put your helmet on – at this time our technical officials will check that this is safe to wear for the event.
Flippers are only permitted in the first timers category.
You are not permitted to race with any music devices including mobile phones, MP3 players, earphones etc, this is a very serious safety risk to you and the participants around you.
All teams wishing to set up tents will be asked to do so in the designated areas. With the event operating in the centre of town it is important for the safety and consideration of competitors, spectators and locals that team tents are only erected in permitted areas. Call the office if you would like some more information.
On event day there will be an assortment of provided nutrition around the course such as muesli bars, fruit, cookies, bottles of water, iced water, as well as an assortment of soft drinks and lollies at the recovery station.
